Why Remedies Matter Now
I have been practicing Vedic astrology since 1987, and in those four decades, I have watched countless students and clients face real challenges that standard astrological knowledge alone cannot solve. We can identify the problem – a weak planet, an afflicted house, a difficult dasha – but knowing what is wrong is only half the battle. The deeper work is learning how to transform that challenge through the tools our tradition has provided.
Right now, as we move through some intense transits, this question becomes urgent: if the stars show a difficulty ahead, what can we actually do about it? This is the work of remedies. Not wishful thinking. Not spiritual bypassing. Real, practical, grounded intervention informed by forty years of practice.
What This Course Covers
Over nine Saturdays, we will explore the full spectrum of remedial approaches – both the Western modalities that have become part of my practice and the classical Vedic remedies that form our foundation. This is not theory separated from life. Each class weaves case studies and practical examples so you can see how these remedies actually work when facing real challenges.
The course spans eight core life domains:
- Classes 1-2: Principles of Prescribing Remedies – overview of remedy theory, traditional and modern approaches; Remedies for Spiritual Development.
- Class 3: Remedies for Houses and Dashas.
- Class 4: Remedies for Nakshatras and the Planets.
- Class 5: Principles of Gem Therapy.
- Class 6: Western and Vedic Remedies for Relationships.
- Classes 7-8: Western and Vedic Remedies for Finance.
- Class 9: Western and Vedic Remedies for Health, Learning Disabilities, Sleep Disorders, and Self-Esteem.
Why Both Western and Vedic?
I studied Vedic culture starting in 1973, long before I ever became an astrologer. Over the decades, I have also come to work with Western therapeutic approaches – not as replacements for our tradition, but as companions to it. My four visits to India to study in person, my regular speaking at the Sedona Vedic Astrology Conferences since 1999 and the British Association of Vedic Astrologers since 2006, have kept me rooted in the classical texts.
But my life as a meditation teacher and yoga teacher has shown me something essential: remedies work best when we meet people where they are. The deep soul work of Vedic practice can be amplified by Western modalities that address the mind, the body, and the practical structures of modern life.
The Western approaches I teach – whether that is talk therapy, somatic work, or energy-based practices – are not about abandoning our tradition. They are about deepening it. When you understand both systems, you can prescribe with wisdom. You can see the whole person. And you can meet each student and client’s unique needs with compassion and skill.
