WINTER SOLSTICE 2025: INTEGRATING THE GALACTIC CENTER ENERGIES
Winter Solstice: Sunday, December 21, 2025
We are moving toward the Winter Solstice into Sunday, December 21st, where the end of the darkness of the year is ending. The Sun passed through the Galactic Center, located at 3-4 degrees Sagittarius, around December 18-19th. We also have the new moon in the Galactic center into Dec. 19th and Venus is also moving into Sagittarius and will be conjunct the Galactic Center by Monday. Things may feel otherworldly this week as we move into the center of the universe. For those of you not familiar with the Galactic Center, it is the heart of the Sun and the source of the gravitational energy present in our galaxy. The Galactic Center is located in Mula Nakshatra (Sagittarius 0-13.20), a powerful constellation ruled by Ketu that contains a giant black hole that can suck one into deep mystical experience.
Planets transiting through the Galactic Center often inspire whistle-blowers to step forward due to the righteous energy of Sagittarius. Remember, the darkness has to happen before the dawn and we do sense that December 21st is the first bottom and that the light will start emerging after Christmas. The solstice reminds us that darkness must precede the dawn. December 21st often acts as a first energetic “bottom,” with light and optimism gradually emerging after the holiday.
The Mysteries of Mula Nakshatra
The mysteries of Sagittarius are contained in the constellation of Mula nakshatra (Sagittarius 0-13.20) which contains the Galactic Center. Mula is a place where we cannot escape from the past and must take responsibility for karma. This is a time to heal old wounds, redress and forgive, clean out and apologize for our mistakes and release. Good time for a healing, therapy and releasing the old otherwise it will gnaw at you. This constellation has the power to take away material comforts of the world to start pointing one toward God. The spiritual essence here is about uprooting the old so that the new can arise—destruction as a pathway to transformation.
To be worthy of this spiritual initiation offered by the Galactic Center in Mula nakshatra, one must be washed by the blood of the heart and move beyond the storms of Scorpio. If successful, the Divine will shower down Poorva Punya Karma and the blessings of past lives and bring God’s grace.
The Spiritual Quest Through Sagittarius
We cannot think of the archer without thinking of Arjuna on the battlefield with Lord Krishna who struggles with moral dilemmas of killing his kinsman for something higher. Only Krishna’s Divine guidance can move him to a higher level of spiritual initiation. Like Arjuna, we must pass through the confusion of the material world and discover what is right and ethical and what is Divine Dharma to grow higher on our journey. Hence, Sagittarius is connected to Jupiter, to ethics, to the laws and moral integrity.
Balancing the Surge of Energy
Cultures around the world have celebrated the Winter Solstice with music and meditation and rest. The solstice is a time to rest and honor the changing electromagnetic energies and re-balancing of the planet. There is a kick of extra energy around the solstice and sometimes we think we can run that extra mile in the marathon or run to those last 2-3 stores.
Plan ahead this year. Do not overdo it even if you are feeling pushed as this can lead to sickness and spoil the upcoming Christmas holiday and rebirth that comes with Christmas. This year especially, plan ahead and do not overextend. Overdoing it between December 20-22 can lead to exhaustion or illness, undermining the renewal that the season offers. Usually, people feel a lot of energy around the solstice and this has to stay balanced so rest and meditate a lot on Saturday and Sunday, December 20-21st.
Remedies for the Solstice Period
So much suffering can be short-circuited if we are disciplined. So how do we deal with difficult transits and what can we do when karma comes back and either we or those around us are suffering?
This is a time to be disciplined about your meditation practice and yoga and other spiritual practices because these lighten the burden and give us more strength to deal with everything. The tendency is to skip that which is good for us when we are challenged, but that’s like taking off a winter coat when it’s below zero. Hanuman Chalisa (on YouTube) can give you courage and energy to increase Mars energy and overcome Saturn.
Donate time and money to help those in need. This is one way to address karma and by getting out of our own stuff, we feel better and move through our own karma. On Saturdays, donate to the poor and homeless and to orphanages and to the blind.
Be disciplined with diet and exercise. The tendency is to use food to cover up difficult emotions or skip exercise because we feel tired or lazy. So much illness can be overcome if we are disciplined in doing what is good for us. Avoid addictive behaviors and non-life-supporting actions especially now. The tendency is to escape but usually this leads to more difficult problems quickly.
Spend time with spiritual knowledge, attend spiritual gatherings and hang around with positive people at this time.
The Deeper Message
Move slowly. Listen deeply. Let the light return in its own time. On a deeper level, this is a time of inner rebirth. As Christmas approaches, the symbolic light of the Christ Child awakens—within individuals and within the collective—ushering in a new season and a new year.
Balance is the key to integrating these powerful currents. This Winter Solstice reminds us that we are always part of the unchanging self at the center that is beyond the craziness of the changing world. As consciousness passes through the “center” of the galaxy, we have an opportunity for deep recalibration—a sacred pause to re-calibrate the body and psyche to shifting electromagnetic and seasonal energies.
