Jupiter rules optimism and judgment, and when it’s in a supportive trine to the Sun, we feel uplifted by generosity, confidence, and expansion. This is the cosmic permission slip to be optimistic about your transformation. This polarity concerns the contrast between material manifestation (Taurus) and spiritual transformation (Scorpio). While Taurus deals with matter, personal values, material goods, possessions, and security, Scorpio rules the destruction of material and change or transformation. Ketu, the secondary ruler of Scorpio, reminds us of the mystical and spiritual nature that seeks to wander in search of enlightenment—so opposed to the earthiest sign of Taurus and its desire to bathe in the senses and accumulate more.
Uranus represents the Prometheus myth of bringing fire to earth, the bringer of change and innovation. When the Sun in Scorpio opposes Uranus in Taurus, a fundamental tension arises between diving deep into psychological transformation and maintaining material security and comfort. You may feel pulled between letting go of what no longer serves you and clinging to familiar structures and possessions.
This opposition can be very upsetting and tense if you are stuck in rigid patterns. The energy may force you to break out of the box and do things differently. This is not the time to quit your job impulsively or end relationships in a moment of rebellion. Instead, use this opposition to identify what genuinely needs to change versus what merely feels uncomfortable because it requires you to go deeper.
Purifying the Swamp With Loving Awareness
Saturn forces us to confront our deepest issues and bring them into the light. Saturn requires us to work hard, and when we do, we do not have to suffer—but many of us are lazy and not willing to do the work. Go into the darkness and know that there is nothing to fear in the depths of the swamp.
Purify the swamp with your loving awareness. Through love and understanding, can we transform the swamp into the lake we desire?
The cocoon has to be destroyed for the butterfly to emerge. This month, the Sun’s light in Scorpio illuminates exactly what needs to die so that something new can be born in you. The 8th house represents the transcendental void that we often experience at the deepest point of meditation. It is a place where we dive into the core of our Divinity, recharge, and emerge deeply rested and refreshed.
This is a time to be disciplined about your meditation practice, yoga, and other spiritual practices, as these can lighten the burden and give us more strength to deal with everything. The tendency is to overlook what is good for us. Donate time and money to help those in need. This is one way to address karma: by getting out of our own way, we feel better and move through our karma. Be disciplined with diet and exercise. Avoid addictive behaviors and non-life-supporting actions, especially now.
Our consciousness is more powerful than the planets because Divinity resides within us. This Scorpio season, remember that you are so much bigger than the waves. You are the ocean itself.
