JANUARY 2026

GLOBAL AND MARKET OVERVIEW
January 2026 is one of the more astrologically complex and volatile
months of the year. Multiple conjunctions, planetary combustions,
and sign changes indicate heightened passion, ideological intensity,
spiritual awakening, and geopolitical stress. Markets, politics, and
global affairs are all being driven by overlapping fire-sign enthusiasm
early in the month, followed by a sharp turn toward realism and
consequence as planets shift into Capricorn.
The conjunction of Mars, Venus, and the Sun from January 6–9 in
Sagittarius is especially important. For individuals and nations
strongly ruled by Mars or Venus, this alignment can produce profound
spiritual experiences, creative breakthroughs, and passionate
expressions of belief. However, Sagittarius is also a sign of ideology,
religion, and moral righteousness. When activated so strongly, it can
just as easily manifest as religious extremism, diplomatic standoffs,
relationship conflict, or aggressive negotiations.
Jupiter opposing Venus into January 9 suggests inflated
expectations, exaggerated promises, and difficulty finding common
ground. If there is any realistic window for progress in the
Putin–Zelenskyy standoff, it would likely fall near this period. After
that, the astrology suggests diminishing flexibility and hardening
positions.
With four planets in Sagittarius, the U.S. ascendant opposing Jupiter,
and the Moon active into January 3, foreign tensions remain elevated.
Sagittarius is a war sign and the only zodiacal sign symbolized by a
weapon—the bow and arrow—making early January particularly
sensitive for military escalation and ideological conflict.
GEOPOLITICAL AND WAR CYCLES
The United States appears committed to a slow blockade strategy
against Venezuela, designed to limit oil flows to China, which
depends heavily on discounted Venezuelan crude. Cuba also
benefits from these energy flows. Meanwhile, the Venezuelan
population continues to suffer shortages of basic goods while cartel-
linked oil revenues fund Maduro’s regime. These dynamics reflect
Sagittarius themes of belief systems colliding with harsh reality.
In our Monthly Video Magazine, we emphasized that Saturn conjunct
Neptune into February 20 marks a peak phase of global realignment.
This rare alignment often correlates with the dissolution of long-
standing institutions, confusion around authority, broken alliances,
and the collapse of idealized narratives. Historically, Saturn–Neptune
periods coincide with financial instability, debt crises, and the
exposure of systemic illusions.
The next major war-risk window appears in February 2026, followed
by another escalation cycle in June 2026. We continue to see
growing indications that the United States may withdraw from NATO
in the coming months, although the February Saturn–Neptune peak
may be too early for full execution.
India remains a strategic wild card in the evolving global chessboard.
Meanwhile, Cambodia and Thailand have resumed hostilities after
the collapse of a Trump-era truce. War and aggression cycles are
strong during early January, particularly with Sagittarius so heavily
activated.
Peace prospects for Ukraine appear to be rapidly closing. European
leadership continues to undermine Trump’s peace initiatives, driven
by internal political agendas and the need to distract from economic
weakness. Ukrainian strikes near Putin’s residence during
negotiations and attacks on Russian power infrastructure blacking out
hundreds of thousands of people in Moscow signal an extremely
dangerous escalation phase.
Several European cycles point to February as a potential ignition
point. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, along with Slovakia
and a small group of allies, is attempting to resist escalation and
block EU-backed war financing. Even if Trump succeeds
diplomatically, Europe may sabotage peace efforts in order to
consolidate internal control and justify increasing censorship.
FREE SPEECH, EUROPE, AND JUPITER IN GEMINI
Europe has simultaneously intensified censorship. In the UK,
individuals can now face prison for certain social media posts. The
United States is pushing back against European censorship policies,
particularly after fines against Elon Musk’s X platform and regulatory
pressure on Google. Jupiter in Gemini through June 2026 supports
the U.S. in maintaining leadership around free speech, open
discourse, and decentralized communication.
CHINA, RUSSIA, AND LONGER-TERM ASTROLOGICAL RISK
Current cycles suggest that a U.S.–China conflict is more likely than a
direct war with Russia. A U.S.–Russia détente appears to be slowly
improving, while China continues to project force, most recently
through naval blockade drills around Taiwan.
Longer-term astrological models point to 2027 as a major stress
period for U.S.–China relations. Rahu transits China’s Capricorn
rising chart after November 2026, followed by Saturn’s ingress into
Aries in June 2027—a classic signature for military confrontation,
national assertiveness, and aggressive territorial claims.
PLANETARY HIGHLIGHTS FOR JANUARY 2026
Sun conjunct Venus and Mars: January 6–9 (Sagittarius)
Venus enters Capricorn: January 12
Mars enters Capricorn (exaltation): January 15
Mercury enters Capricorn: January 16
Mercury conjunct Sun (combust): January 21
Sun conjunct Pluto: January 23
Mars conjunct Pluto: January 27
Venus conjunct Pluto: January 19
The Mars–Venus–Sun conjunction in Sagittarius reflects both divine
inspiration and explosive passion. In Western astrology, the Sun’s
conjunction with Venus and Mars is considered Cazimi—moving into
the heart of the Sun—symbolizing spiritual awakening and alignment
with higher will. Jupiter’s supportive aspects provide a degree of
moral justification, even as tensions rise.
However, the second half of the month becomes more volatile. The
series of Pluto conjunctions in Capricorn greatly increases the risk of
violence, terrorism, volcanic activity, earthquakes, and financial
shocks. Mars combustion, which began November 6 and continues
until March 26, 2026, amplifies irritability, military aggression, and
impulsive decision-making.
The transition into Capricorn shifts energy away from Sagittarius
idealism and toward realism, accountability, and economic
consequence. This change offers the potential for practical solutions
to entrenched conflicts, including the Middle East and
Russia–Ukraine, though only after significant pressure.
Makara Sankranti on January 14 marks the beginning of the six-
month business expansion cycle in Vedic astrology. Mars exalted in
Capricorn regains strength, discipline, and strategic clarity, supporting
decisive action in business, military planning, and long-term structural
reform.
STOCK MARKET AND FINANCIAL CYCLES
Equity markets remain buoyant the first part of January, supported by
optimistic Sagittarius energy and first-of-the-year buying. However,
thin volume and excessive speculation suggest vulnerability to sharp
reversals.
Cash S&P resistance clusters near 7055–7144. A decisive break
below 6550 would be required to turn the market clearly bearish.
Near-term cash support sits near 6720–6856. Nasdaq 100 futures
must break below 24,500 to confirm a major trend shift.
Geopolitical shocks during January 5–9 are likely but may not
significantly impact markets, as investor desensitization to global
crises remains high.
Larger cycles remain supportive. The 120-year cycle peaks in the
third week of January. Favorable echoes from 1993–1994 and late
2018 suggest a final cyclical high into late January before more
serious corrective pressure emerges.
NEXT MAJOR MARKET LOW
A major cycle low is projected for April 2026. Mercury becomes
debilitated in Pisces from April 10–29 and is joined by Mars, a
combination that historically correlates with equity, crypto, and
speculative asset declines. Dasha-cycle highs remain due the week
of January 20.
SECTOR OUTLOOK
Crude Oil and Energy:
Crude remains structurally bearish into January. Downside targets
remain at 53.50 and possibly 49.50. Longer-term war cycles could
eventually drive prices toward 103–108 later in the cycle.
Interest Rates:
The Saturn–Neptune conjunction signals ongoing financial instability.
Some cycles suggest a flight-to-quality bid for bonds and lower rates
from February through May. Longer-term pressure remains upward
into late 2026 and 2027 as global debt mounts.
Metals:
Gold and silver have already exceeded expectations. Long-term
cycles support silver toward 161 and gold toward 10,000 into 2028.
Short-term volatility remains extreme, with wide trading ranges likely
through winter.
Cryptocurrencies:
Bitcoin may stall near the 99,000 region in January and could decline
toward 70,000 into April. Cryptos are highly sensitive to Mercury and
Neptune cycles, making the April debilitation especially important.
Long-term upside targets remain near 225,000, consistent with the
post-halving cycle.
