Feng Shui for the Fire Horse year 2026

2026 welcomes the Yang Fire Horse in the Chinese zodiac. Each year, this new ruling sign sets the tone for how Chi (universal life force) flows across Earth, and in turn how it influences our homes, businesses, and daily lives. Feng Shui, the art of managing this Chi, allows us to recognize which areas will thrive if activated and which ones should remain untouched.

Let’s explore the Feng Shui of 2026, looking at both the “annual afflictions” that warn us where caution is needed, and the Flying Stars and Qi Men Dun Jia oracle that show us where opportunities for growth and good fortune lie.

How Feng Shui Energy Is Mapped Each Year

The Chinese zodiac is not just a cycle of animals—it is also a compass of directions. Each sign corresponds to a precise location on the Luo Pan (Chinese compass). By tracking where the year’s animal “sits,” along with the solar and lunar calendars, we uncover the year’s energetic map.

Lunar New Year 2026: begins on February 17th, 2026.
Solar Year for Feng Shui: begins earlier, on February 4th, 2026.
This distinction matters because Feng Shui calculations use the solar term. The Fire Horse year is also the third year of Period 9 (2024–2043), a 20-year cycle ruled by the Fire element. Every year within this cycle interacts with this larger background, shaping which sectors bring blessings and which invite caution.

The Four Annual Afflictions of 2026

Each year, four main “afflictions” mark areas of heightened, unstable energy. These are not superstitions but metaphysical markers based on celestial cycles, especially the orbit of Jupiter. They show us which parts of a home or office should not be disturbed by renovations, noise, or major activity.

The four are:

  • Tai Sui (Grand Duke Jupiter)
  • Sui Po (Year Breaker)
  • San Sha (Three Killings)
  • Wu Wang (Five Yellow Flying Star)

Let’s look at each in turn for 2026.

Tai Sui – Grand Duke Jupiter in the South

The Tai Sui, or Grand Duke Jupiter, is one of the most important afflictions to respect. In Chinese cosmology, Jupiter’s 12-year orbit is mapped onto the zodiac cycle, and wherever it “sits” defines the seat of power for that year. This location is energetically charged—like a throne that should not be challenged.

In 2026, the Horse rules, and the Horse corresponds to South 2 on the Luo Pan. This means the South sector of your home or business is directly under the influence of Tai Sui.

What it means: The South becomes a sensitive area. Disturbing it—through renovations, constant noise, or excessive use—can invite misfortune.
Practical advice: Identify the rooms or spaces that fall in the South on your floor plan. Even if you don’t know exactly where “South 2” begins and ends, it’s safer to treat the entire South sector as off-limits for disturbance.

In 2026, the Tai Sui resides in the South. Keep this area quiet and stable.

Sui Po – The Year Breaker in the North

Directly opposite Tai Sui is its counterpart: Sui Po, the Year Breaker. If Tai Sui represents the ruling energy, Sui Po is the shadow side—the sector most at odds with the year’s Chi.

Since Tai Sui is in South 2, the Sui Po falls in North 2, which is the domain of the Rat. This explains why those born under the Rat sign may need extra caution during 2026: their own zodiac sign sits in direct opposition to the ruling Horse.

What it means: The North becomes unstable and is best left quiet.
Practical advice: Avoid starting renovations, major projects, or frequent loud activity in the North. If your main door opens here, take extra care.

The Sui Po affliction occupies the North in 2026—another sector best left undisturbed.

San Sha – The Three Killings in the North

The San Sha, or “Three Killings,” is perhaps the most misunderstood affliction. Despite its dramatic name, it does not mean literal danger. Instead, it marks the sector opposite to the Elemental frame ruling the year.

Here’s how it works:

  1. The 12 zodiac animals group into elemental trios, each tied to one of the Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water).
  2. The Horse belongs to the Fire frame, alongside the Tiger and the Dog.
  3. Within this trio, the Horse is the peak of Fire energy, representing midsummer and full intensity.
  4. The San Sha always falls opposite the peak. Since the Horse dominates the South, the San Sha rests in the North.

What it means: The North again becomes sensitive. San Sha relates to financial loss, theft, or setbacks when its energy is activated carelessly.
Just like with Tai Sui and Sui Po, the solution is simple—do not disturb the North with renovations, digging, or loud disruptions.
In 2026, the San Sha also sits in the North. Combined with Sui Po, this makes North one of the most fragile sectors of the year.

Wu Wang – The Five Yellow Star in the South

Finally, we turn to the Flying Stars. These annual “numbers” rotate through the Bagua each year, bringing specific qualities of Chi. The most feared is the Five Yellow (Wu Wang), long associated with misfortune, illness, and accidents.

In 2026, the Five Yellow flies into the South—the same place already housing Tai Sui. This double burden makes the South especially delicate.

What it means: Illness energy and instability are concentrated here. Disturbing the South increases the risk of health issues.
Practical advice: Keep the South quiet, avoid heat or fire here, and never use heavy earth elements (like terracotta pots). A classic cure is a six-rod metal wind chime near the main door if it faces South. Metal objects help weaken Earth energy, which the Five Yellow represents.
The Five Yellow sits in the South in 2026, amplifying the caution already required due to Tai Sui.

Remedies for the Annual Afflictions in 2026

When one of these afflictions is disturbed, misfortune can follow in the form of health issues, money loss, accidents, or conflict. The good news is that traditional Feng Shui and ritual practices offer ways to calm and harmonize these energies.

General Principles

  • Do not disturb afflicted sectors unless unavoidable.
  • If disturbance happens, try to leave your place as soon as possible and for at least half the day
  • Counterbalance the offence with acts of merit (donations, prayer, vegetarian fasting).
  • Use elemental cures that weaken the afflicted energy.
  • Apply ritual or symbolic offerings to show respect to the ruling forces of the year.

Remedies by Affliction

1. Tai Sui/Great duke Jupiter (South)

Offer incense and prayers to Tai Sui at a Taoist temple if possible.
Avoid sitting or sleeping facing South for long periods.
Perform acts of kindness or charity to balance karmic energy.

2. Sui Po/Year breaker (North)

Keep the area quiet and avoid renovations.
Place a vase of fresh water (changed weekly) in the North to calm the energy.
Be gentle with doors opening in the North.

3. San Sha/3 killings (North)

Do not sit with your back to the North for long stretches.
Place a pair of lamps or candles in the North and keep them lit regularly to guard the area.
Offset the San Sha by doing community or charitable work.

4. Wu Wang/5 yellow (South)

Set up a saltwater cure: fill a jar with coarse salt and place six metal coins on top which can be the traditional Chinese coins, but also a mix of regular coins. Cover with water, about 1cm above the salt. Replace the salt and water as the crystals form over time.
Place metal objects (a brass bowl, six-rod wind chime) in the South to weaken the Earth energy. It is especially to hang a 6 metallic rods wind chime at any door located in South sector
Avoid pottery, crystals, or earth-colored décor here such as much yellow.

Universal Remedies if You Disturb Any Affliction

If an afflicted area is accidentally disturbed:

  • Leave the place asap for a few hours
  • Recite protective mantras for several days.
  • Donate to charity or help others in need.
  • Offer incense, light candles, or make symbolic offerings.
  • Donate blood or undergo a blood test in the next days by focusing on the intent of avoiding health issues by drawing blood willingly
  • Observe a vegetarian fast for a period of time.

These methods help rebalance the Chi and reduce the impact of the disturbance.

The Auspicious Feng Shui Sectors of 2026

Not all is caution—the year also brings bright spots where energy is ripe for growth and success. These sectors are determined by the Flying Stars and the Qi Men Dun Jia oracle.

The flying stars during the Horse year 2026

We are now in period 9 since last year. The Star 9 therefore becomes auspicious star of the period and activating it can stimulate wealth and luck.

  • During the Horse year, the 9 Flying Star flies in the Southeast. Southeast is now considered an ausipicious sector and this influence might help Southeast Asian countries in 2026.
  • The 8 Flying Star flies in the East sector during the year of the Horse. This Star is also linked to wealth and remains beneficial at the beginning of this period 9, even if its is Chi is now declining. In 2026 we can still activate the 8 Flying Star and that makes East an auspicious sector.
  • In opposition, the Star 2 that was really negative in the previous period is now becoming auspicious but slowly. The 2 Flying Star moves to Northwest. It can be activated carefully through the year with the help of monthly and daily Flying Stars as well as the Qi Men Dun Jia oracle
  • The Star 1 that is now auspicious is moving to the centre. This is not ideal as its Water nature spoils a bit the Earth nature of the centre. Best is to leave the centre of your home still.
  • The Star 6 remain good for the period but should not be activated all the time. It is flying in the North sector and is not usable as North is heavily afflicted this year.

Here is chart the Flying Stars for the Yang Fire Horse year 2026. Remember that in the Bagua or Pakua, South is on top and North at the bottom:

  • In green the best Stars.
  • In blue the one to activate carefully, either neutral or in transition.
  • In red the stars that must be left undisturbed

Qi Men Dun Jia for 2026, year of the Yang Fire Horse

For the Qimen oracle, we have an excellent structure in Southeast; as Southeast is also home to the 9 Flying Star, it makes it the luckiest sector of the year. Southwest is the other excellent sector of the year.  The North sector has a good structure that will mitigate a bit the negative effect of the annual afflictions, but still it’s best not activated. Same for South. The other sector don’t have good structures. Therefore it is really Southeast and Southwest that are two great sectors to activate during the year.

The Qi Men year plate is one thing; like the flying Stars, there are different Qi Men energies each month and each day, with some excellent directions and sectors to active each month. Those activations bring more luck in life and boost work, finance and relationships.  If you are part of my membership, the Qi Men analysis is the method that I use to determine your 5 lucky feng shui boosts of each month to boost your luck all year long. It also takes into account the Flying Stars. If you are not yet part of this lucky club, you can join in here right now.

Here is the Qi Men plate for the year.

All the good and bad directions and sectors for the Fire Horse year 2026

When looking at the annual afflictions, the sectors that are not affected are: South, Southwest, West and North. For the Qi Men Dun Jia, East is a winner, but Northeast, Southeast and West have partially good structures. For the Flying Stars, the best ones are in East and Southeast, while South and Southwest also have good Stars. The worst Star, the yellow 5 is in Northeast. The centre is receiving the 2 Flying Star which used to be bad and linked to illness, but is now becoming more auspicious. However in Qi Men there is a double Fire structure in the centre, which might feeds the illness aspects associated with the 2 Star. Best it to not activate it. When combining all aspects: annual Feng Shui afflictions, the flying stars and the Qi Men Dun Jia for the year of the Horse, we end up with this ranking from best to worse.

The best sector for the year :

Good sectors for the year :

Average sectors of the year:

  • West
  • Northwest
  • Northeast
  • Centre

Those directions/sectors are all badly afflicted

The Southeast sector is the winner this year having both an excellent Qi Men structure and the 9 Flying Star.

Below is a visual representation of all the sectors for this year :

  • In red: sensitive, do not disturb at all
  • In blue: average
  • Purple: good for Qi Men or Flying Stars but not both. Considered them as good sectors
  • Green: best sector of the year

Feng Shui guide to the good and bad sectors in 2026, year of the Fire Horse

Buying properties with the right Feng Shui during the Fire Horse year 2026

Traditionally, it is best to avoid buying a property with the main door located on one of the annual affliction for that year. For example, in 2026 you’d avoid buying a house with its door in South or North due to all the annual Feng Shui afflictions they receive. We need to explore this rule a bit further.

  1. If you don’t move in in this house during that year, that’s not a problem
  2. If you renovate it, you still need to respect the annual afflictions guidelines
  3. If you move in during that year, the solution is to then select a good move-in date for you and the other people concerned

This is done by studying your Bazi and the monthly energies, and line up your Heaven (astrology/timing), Human (your move in date) and Earth (your new place) luck. There is always a way…I can of course assist you entirely into choosing the right place and find the best moving in date. Feng Shui is about working with time and space together. By understanding this year’s map of Chi, you can protect your wellbeing and invite prosperity. If you’d like to go deeper into your personal Feng Shui or Bazi astrology for 2026, I’d be glad to guide you. If you want to maximise your chances for success and wellbeing and know your destiny for the Horse year 2026, I invite you to contact me for your Bazi and Feng Shui consultation.

I am wishing you all and in avance a prosperous Fire Horse year!
